Competing Hopes

January 10, 2021 Speaker: Josh Montague Series: Minor Prophets

Topic: Minor Prophets Passage: Habakkuk 2:1–2:20

Habakkuk 2 is a contrast between competing locations for hope. Power, wealth, and domination were the idols of Babylonian culture, achieved at any cost. In contrast, God’s glory will fill the earth “as the waters cover the sea” (2:14). While Babylonian glory is fleeting, God’s glory is eternal. Only when one's hope rests in God’s glory, which is ultimately found in the person and work of Jesus, can they find a stabilizing, joyful faith
